Website Redesign: City of Alma
City of Alma Modernizes Its Online Presence
The City of Alma, Wisconsin, was ready for a website refresh that would make it easier for residents to stay informed and access important city resources. While the existing website had served the community well, its design and functionality were ready for an upgrade to better meet the needs of today’s users. The new homepage puts frequently requested information front and center, making it easy to find agendas and minutes, permits and forms, city departments, community resources, and other essential information.
Accessibility was a major priority throughout the redesign. With new federal ADA requirements establishing web accessibility standards for state and local governments, we took particular care to incorporate WCAG-aligned design and development practices. From navigation and content structure to accessibility enhancements, the goal was to create a more inclusive online experience while helping the City prepare for evolving compliance requirements.
Beyond the visual improvements, we developed custom tools to simplify how City staff manage and publish public documents. An updated calendar system, dedicated news and announcements, and an alert center also make it easier to share meeting information, community updates, and important notices with residents.
The redesign included transitioning to the City’s new .gov domain, establishing a more recognizable and trusted online presence for municipal information. With improved accessibility, streamlined content management, and ongoing website support, the City of Alma now has a modern digital platform built to serve its community well into the future.
